Our world faces an impending climate crisis as studies demonstrate that carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels are severely damaging the environment.  

To combat this, the EU has made some mandatory goals for member states to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 20% by 2020. 

Ireland has taken measures like requiring renewable energy technology in new homes since 2010 and imposing carbon taxes for non-compliance.
